A group, Organisation for Global Youth Peace Empowerment and Development Initiative (OGYPEDI), has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to see youth empowerment as crucial to his administration.
The group, which made the call ahead of the May 29 inauguration for his second term, said by so doing, it would enable the president enjoy the support of, as well as earn the trust of the teeming youths who gave him their votes.
This is contained in a statement issued after its executive meeting in Benin, Edo State, and endorsed by its national coordinator and PRO, Japhet Omene and Michael Ipheghe respectively.
They urged the President Buhari-led administration to leave no stone unturned in the task of ensuring that youths in the country were empowered in all ramifications, noting that youth restiveness across the country was largely due to joblessness.
The group assured the president that it would, in its own way, support youth empowerment programmes of his administration.
According to them, the Buhari-led administration “would be on a positive side of history and posterity if it implements a blue print that would ensure youth empowerment and employment in the country as promised during his campaign.”
The group said one of its cardinal goals was to ensure that youths are well empowered in our local communities and the country at large.
