A 29-year-old suspected serial killer, Emmanuel Nwabueze, who was arrested in Lagos for stealing female pants, has also been declared wanted by police Abia for alleged murder. Nwabueze reportedly killed a rival cultist in front of a church. On Saturday, April 20, Nwabueze and Friday Emmanuel were arrested by policemen from Satellite town led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Chike Oti, at Mile 2, under bridge when they were fighting over who would keep the stolen pants.

It was learnt that the police in Abia saw Nwabueze’s picture in one of the national dailies and alerted the Lagos State Police Command to transfer him to Abia State to continue his murder case. According to a source, Nwabuaeze and his gang in Abia chased a rival cult member into a church and killed him in the presence of the pastor and other members of the congregation who had appealed to them to spare him. After killing the rival cultist, Nwabuaeze and his colleagues also slit his throat and ran to Lagos.

He was declared wanted by the police for murder. “If not that the suspect was arrested by the police in Lagos; he would have turned out to be a notorious criminal terrorising residents of the state,” a source said. It was also learnt that immediately the Abia State Police Command requested that Nwabueze be brought back to face murder charges; he was immediately released from the Kirikiri Prison where he was remanded. The suspect was handed over to the Homicide Section of the Abia State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) on May 2, for prosecution.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana, said the suspect was a serial killer Elkana said after the suspect was arrested in Lagos for stealing female pants, one of the publications in the national dailies gave him out to the Abia State Police Command. He said: “Immediately they requested for his handing over, we didn’t hesitate to give him to the Abia State Police Command to face prosecution.”
