Umuada Di-Igbo Mma, an NGO fighting for the right of Igbo women, has advised orphans to develop positive minds as they grow up, saying one day they will conquer the world with determination.
The coordinator of the NGO, Mrs Beauty Ikeaka gave the advice when her entourage visited the Hope for Survival Children Orphanage at Gishiri in Abuja.
“You are important to the world, you are important to the society. Just have a positive dream and you will get there.
“Be obedient, be loyal; the society is looking at you to use you as examples and you cannot be in the bush to achieve greatness except you go to school.
“So, I encourage you to keep going to school,” she said.
The NGO donated food items such as such bags of rice, noodles, Irish potatoes among others to the orphans.
According to Ikeaka, the vision of the organisation is to empower women and the needy in the society to encourage them to survive in spite of the situation they find themselves.
Ikeaka said that the donation of the items was to show love to the children and for them not to feel neglected in the society.
“Our organisation is borne out of passion aimed at empowering women and the needy. It was established at California 12 years ago. The FCT chapter of the NGO was flag-off in April 2017.
“We have visited many orphanages ranging from Zion Orphanage Lugbe, St. Benedict Catholic Orphanage Lokogoma, where we feed and treated 279 persons.
“We are here to offer the children scholarship to study in their various schools of choice and also to give drugs and food items to them.
Umuada Di-Igbo Mma is established for all the Igbo speaking women in the country and for those in the Diaspora.
The coordinator added that the NGO was also formed to enhance unity and coexistence among the Igbo either by birth, nationality or by marriage.
Mrs Juliet Michael, President of the FCT chapter of the organisation thanked the proprietress of the Hope for Survival Orphanage for taking good care of the children.
“The upbringing of children is very tasking and it demands total commitment from the part of the guardians.’’
She said the orphanage had helped to put smile in the faces of the children.
Mr Emmanuel Abel, speaking on behalf of the orphanage, appreciated the NGO for the donation.
“The children will live to remember the NGO for its contribution to their lives.
“The orphanage will continue to do its best in taking good care of the children.’’
