The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and the governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, were conspicuously absent on Wednesday at a prayer session organised by political associates and supporters of the senate president to mark his 56th birthday.
Eminent citizens, including the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Razak Atunwa, and political associates of the former governor converged on Ilorin, the Kwara State capital for the prayers to celebrate the birthday of the politician.
Saraki was not on ground due to the 2019 budget presentation to the joint session of the National Assembly while the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfattah Ahmed, was said to have been engaged in the presentation of staff of office to the newly promoted second class traditional rulers in the state.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheik Mohammad Salihu led other clerics at the famous Charity House, Iloffa Road, GRA, Ilorin, where the prayer was held.
In his sermon, the Grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Ustaz Suleiman Dan-Borno, admonished Saraki to rely solely on Almighty God whenever he was confronted with any challenge. He said recent happenings clearly showed that God was with him.
The cleric noted that the Senate President would always receive divine guidance and protection as long as he stood firm in his welfarist schemes, adding that whoever plotted against him would not succeed.
Dan-Borno urged Saraki to continue sustaining the path and legacies bequeathed to him by his late father, Dr Olusola Saraki.
